Intermec Labels: Duratran vs. Duratherm

Tuesday, December 13, 2011 12:26:34 PM America/New_York

Here is a little information on the differences between Intermec’s Duratherm labels and Duratran labels to help assist you when purchasing your desired labels.

Intermec Duratherm direct thermal paper labels are treated with a heat sensitive layer and imaged through direct contact with the print head. No ribbon, toner, or ink is required with Duratherm labels. Though, direct thermal media is more sensitive to light, heat and abrasion, which reduces the life of the printed material; Duratherm labels with a top coat provide enhanced durability for applications where catalysts such as these are a concern. Direct thermal labels are great for shipping labels, patient and visitor identification, receipts, and ticket printing.

Intermec Duratran thermal transfer labels are available in both paper and synthetic stock. Synthetic or “film” labels meet the needs of more challenging environmental applications, with qualities including tear resistance, aggressive adhesives, moisture and heat resistance. These labels are ideal for long-term applications. They are best used for product identification; circuit board tracking; permanent identification; sample and file tracking; asset tagging; inventory identification; certification labels such as UL/CSA; laboratory specimens; cold storage and freezers; and outdoor applications.

When paired with compatible labels and tags, Intermec’s thermal transfer ribbons produce sharp text and bar codes on a broad range of materials, both papers and films, with excellent durability.
